How big does a Bernedoodle from Texas Original Doodles typically get?Bernedoodles from Texas Original Doodles typically vary in size based on their specific breeding lines. On average, a standard Bernedoodle can weigh between 70 to 90 pounds and stand about 23 to 29 inches tall at the shoulder. However, there are also Mini and Medium Bernedoodles, which tend to be smaller. Mini Bernedoodles usually weigh between 25 to 49 pounds and are about 18 to 22 inches tall, whereas Medium Bernedoodles can weigh between 50 to 70 pounds and stand around 19 to 25 inches tall. How should I groom my Bernedoodle?Bernedoodles have beautiful wavy coats, and of course, you'll want to make sure your Best Furry Friend stays looking flawless! Here are a few essential steps to ensure their coat remains healthy and mat-free. At Texas Original Doodles, we recommend regular grooming to maintain your Bernedoodle’s coat and overall well-being. Start with brushing your Bernedoodle at least three times a week to prevent mats and tangles. Use a slicker brush or a metal comb to work through the hair gently, paying special attention to areas prone to matting, such as behind the ears, under the arms, and around the tail. Regular baths are also crucial, but be sure not to over-bathe as it can strip the coat of natural oils. Use a high-quality dog shampoo and conditioner to keep the coat soft and manageable. At Texas Original Doodles, we believe that a well-groomed Bernedoodle is a happy and healthy one! Regular brushing, occasional baths, and professional grooming are key to keeping your Bernedoodle looking and feeling their best.

What is a Bernedoodle, and does Texas Original Doodles offer them?A Bernedoodle is a crossbreed between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, known for its friendly temperament, intelligence, and hypoallergenic coat. Bernedoodles offer the best of both worlds: the lovable goofy personality of the Bernese and their awesome coloring and the much desired hypoallergenic coat of the poodle! I LOVE my Bernese Mountain dogs, Heidi and Bernie, but those furry little sisters can SHED! Bernedoodles will shed much less. Bernedoodles are cherished for their affectionate nature and versatility, making them suitable for families, singles, and even those with allergies. How often should I brush my Goldendoodle? To maintain the beautiful, curly coat of a Goldendoodle, it’s essential to brush them several times a week using a slicker brush or a comb designed for curly-haired breeds. Starting a grooming routine early in their life helps your dog get used to the process, making it an easier and more enjoyable experience for both of you. Our team at Texas Original Doodles can provide recommendations on the best grooming practices and products tailored to your Goldendoodle’s coat type. Regular brushing not only keeps their fur in great condition but also strengthens the bond between you and your furry friend. I do all my doodles' grooming myself. I started during Covid, and I ended up loving doing it (and saving money!) The best investment I made was getting this awesome brush by Cris Cristenson. I seriously cut my brushing time in half.

What size will my goldendoodle puppy be?Goldendoodles can come in many sizes! Micro Mini - 15-25 pounds Mini - 25-35 pounds Medium - 35-50 pounds Standard - 50 - 90 pounds Genetics can always throw out unpredictable outcomes, but the best predictor of size is to take the weight of the parents and average them. Tiger is a small-medium goldendoodle; she weighs 37 pounds. Captain is a mini goldendoodle, weighing 25 pounds. Their puppies should fall into the mini size range, from 25-35 pounds. Our predictions are based on current puppy sizes, parent sizes, and the best information available; however, we absolutely can not guarantee sizes, as genetics are inherently unpredictable.

What does F1, F1B, and F2B mean?F1 and F1B are used by breeders to refer to what generation the puppy is compared to the original dam and sire. F1 - A first generation goldendoodle whose parents are a golden retriever and a poodle, an even 50/50 mix. The genetics can create a wide variety of colors and fur types, ranging from super curly to straight, wavy, and long. Our sire Captain is an F1. F1B - A second generation goldendoodle whose parents are a goldendoodle and a poodle, meaning the puppy is 75% poodle and 25% golden retriever. This creates a more hypoallergenic dog with an extremely desirable coat quality and much less likely chance of shedding. Our dam Tiger is an F1B. F2B - Our puppies are F2Bs. This generation is rare and highly sought after, as most breeders don't have the patience to breed to this level. It's the optimum mix of poodle coat and good-natured golden retriever temperament. (62.5% Poodle and 37.5% Golden Retriever) is a cross between an F1 Goldendoodle (50% Poodle, 50% Golden Retriever) and an F1B Goldendoodle (75% Poodle, 25% Golden Retriever). This F2B Goldendoodle generation has significant poodle genes which results in a mostly wavy or curly coat. F2Bs generally have less shedding and are more hypoallergenic.

What will my puppy come home with?Your puppy will come home with a bag of puppy food, a blanket that smells like mom, and a toy. We also include a bag of pine pellets that we use to litter train the puppies. If you sprinkle some of the pellets in your yard, it will help transition your puppy to outdoor potty training in a snap!
